UniMET ties with BTEC/EDEXEL

UniMET (Unification of Marine Education and Training) project will tie with EDEXCEL, UK’s largest awarding body, for the unification process across Europe The outcome of recently concluded SOS (Safety on sea) project modules which is accredited by EDEXCEL will be followed. This will help unification process that will be followed by 9 partnership consortium.

UniMET ties with BTEC/EDEXEL

Edexcel, a Pearson company, is the UK's largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications and testing to schools, colleges, employers and other places of learning in the UK and internationally (www.edexcel.com).

The UniMET will be in charge of assuring and controlling the quality of UniMET programmes and their delivery. This will involve ensuring all resources are used efficiently and effectively. The BTEC/EDEXEL system will help to ensure that quality of the programme will be maintained by using the existing methods and methodologies (www.maredu.cu.uk).

The UNIMET with the major European players including several nautical institutions of further and higher Education has already established the maritime education partnership called MarEdu. MarEdu has established a programme of cooperation to improve education and training practices in Europe and gone about the harmonisation of merchant navy officer’s education and training across Europe.
